The Importance of Load Balance and Center of Gravity in Teardrop trailer

The determination of the load affecting the drawbar on the trailers is important in terms of handling and safe travel. In this context, a load of 3 to 5% of the trailer weight should affect the drawbar. The load that has to affect the drawbar of a trailer with a total weight of 750 kg is roughly 20-50 kg.

When the load affecting the drawbar is taken as 50 kg, the exact position of the load to be loaded on the trailer, in other words, the center of gravity of the trailer becomes important. The following image shows GA (Total trailer center of gravity).

GA: Total trailer weight
S: Load affecting the drawbar
A: Distance between coupling and axle
B: Distance of trailer center of gravity from axle (m)
